It all comes down to whether or not you want to play the exclusives on the 360. Gears of War 1 & 2, Halo 3, Fable 2, Mass Effect, Dead Rising, Lost Odyssey just to name a few. If you have no interest in these games, only multiplatform games, then it's definitely not worth it. If you choose a 360, an Elite is a great investment. It has a huge honkin hard drive, which is going to come in handy when the fall update comes out, because you'll have the option of installing entire games onto your hard drive. That way, when you play, the loading times are shorter, and your disc drive doesn't spin. This is different from the PS3 installs because it is a complete install and it's totally optional. Another thing about the fall update that has me really excited is the Netflix partnership. All you need is Xbox Live Gold ($50 a year, I know, sucks, but it's worth it) and a Netflix membership (cheapest is $9/ month), and you can stream unlimited movies to your xbox anytime. Also, the bigger hard drive is nice to have in case you decide to purchase any of the Xbox Originals, which can take up to 4 or 5 GB each. I have an elite, and it's awesome not to worry about hard drive space like I did when I had my 20 GB. I leave tons of demos on my 360 and it feels like I just have way more options. PS, the RRoD isn't really a problem anymore with the new chipsets. |
