You could save yourself some money and try penny tricking your red ringing xbox. it has like a 97% chance of fixing it. i did it to mine about 3 months ago and it works perfectly. (before you start you need to know that once you have opened up you Xbox, your warranty will be void and Microsoft will not fix it for free.) you need: T9 screw driver electric tape 8 x 1 penny coins (have to be penny for the copper) thermal paste (an absolute must or you will fry your xbox) and a video showing you how: youtube.com/ watch?v= wsz0lNJ6JrQ the concept sounds silly but it does work. the reason why is because instead of putting another fan in the xbox, Microsoft decided they would put in these silly pads on the processors to conduct the heat, but they do not work, that is where the pennys come in handy, the copper is a much better heat conductor. after doing it your xbox's fans will become a lot louder, don't worry, it will get quieter after a few days, if you get 2 red lights afterwards then it means it is overheating and that either the penneys have fallen off or it has not been put back together properly. many people towel trick the xbox straight afterwards, i just ran it and watched a film and it was fine all the gear to fix it costed me about £20, you could probably get it cheaper. hope i helped. |
