Question: Do i need xbox live to upgrade my xbox 360 elite?

This shouldn't take any modding. i have an old 360 elite, and the dashboard is like grey and well its just the old dashboard. i want to know if i can upgrade my system without having xbox live.

You don't need Live to get the NXE dashboard update. You can go here xbox.com/ en-US/ support/ systemuse/ xbox360/ console/ systemupdates.htm and follow the steps to download, burn, and install it to your 360.
