Question: I have an xbox 360 elite from 2008, can it get the rrod or is it only in older consoles?

In November 2008 they replaced all 360's mother boards to incorporate the Jasper type. This was to prevent the ring but not stop it all together. As far as things are going, the only ones to be completely avoidable of the ring are the new slims. If the model was made before the November, Microsoft will still cover you for 3 years from the purchase date. To prevent it, ensure your system is well ventilated and copy games to your HD if you're playing them continuously to lessen the workload of the console :)

I'm afraid every XBOX 360 console apart from the new models are prone to RROD.

Its highly unlikely you will get the RROD if it is a 2008 console. plus if you are connected to xbox live the software updates generally prevent the RROD. my console is 2006 and i have had the RROD only once about 2 years ago to which Microsoft repaired hassle free and quite quickly. sice then it has been fine :D so you are very unlikely to get it unless you play games straight from the disc 24/ 7

Yes it can still get RRoD, although it is less likely than the older models, mine got RRoD and I had to send it away to get it fixed, then it got RRoD again about 6/ 7 months later but that went away after a day.

All 360's get the RROD!!! the new one's do to but its now called the red dot of death since they removed the red led's..LOL
